Reasons to Donate:
-
Trent has a spirit of volunteering to the community. Throughout much of his life, he has spent summers in China and Mexico building orphanages and schools with church and school groups. Donating is one way he can help those in his community who may be in need.
-
Some donors donate for the money. Trent feels a child should not have to grow up wondering if their donor's motivation was for money. Trent's motivation is wanting to bring a child into someone's loving family.
-
During Trent's life, he has seen divorce affect the lives of loved ones. The commitment one makes to a partner and their role as parents is one of the most important in life. When a family is blessed with a child, the bond between two partners should be strengthened and given more purpose than ever.
-
Trent has conducted his life in a way so that he can remain a healthy donor. He feels blessed to be able to share this gift for others.
-
Children from anonymous donors may wonder about their donor's background. Trent is willing to share his background with the families of interested recipients who ask.
-
Trent has seen other families struggle with high costs of healthcare, and hopes that by allowing a family to save on some costs, more may be put towards their children.
-
Commercial sperm banks involve corporations, profit motive, powerful corporate boards (similar models to Wal-Mart and Chevron). Years from now, acceptance of this model may change. The inspiration to bring a child into the world can be part end-product of that system, or rather from someone donating out of kindness.
-
Being a donor for several years has taught Trent to have a tremendous amount of respect for women, their struggles, and families he meets.
-
One of Trent's closest childhood friends was an only-child whose parents tried for years to conceive. Trent knows first-hand the struggle families go through to have a child and he wishes to help.
-
New recipients often mention Trent's religious background as the most important reason they selected him as their donor.
